Cuisine Cannoise en Fête

It’s no secret that food in France is a bit of a big deal, with each of the country’s rich and varied regions all masters of their own distinctive cuisine. Cannes is no different, and this March, gourmands and the simply hungry alike will be invited upon a tasty tour of the Côte d'Azur! So what’s in store?

Well, for starters, actual starters; suitably supplemented by delicious main courses and famous French desserts, which will be cooked up courtesy of some sixty leading chefs from across Cannes. Scattered across the city, participating restaurants will serve their creations to willing patrons (all at the same promotional price), who will in-turn vote for their favourites! All that is required from entries is that dishes must be made entirely from local Cannes produce and be given a name reflective of the region.

To sample the splendour of Cuisine Cannoise en Fête, one doesn’t have to visit a participating restaurant, however. Simply strolling around Forville’s famous Marché will acquaint you with mouth-watering flavours of the Mediterranean - keep an eye (and nose) out for Bouillabaisse, Pissaladière, Ratatouille and Socca. Then, when in France, do as the French do and drink a range of delicious wine, courtesy of local vintners Domaine de Barbossi and the legendary Lérins Abbey monks.

MIPTV 2018

Every year, tens of thousands of innovators within the world of television arrive in Cannes for MIPTV. The occasion is after all the biggest global event of its kind, where industry leaders and acquisition executives all vie to strike distribution and co-production deals, while no-end of networking opportunities and conferences amuse the masses within the hallowed walls of Palais des Festivals.

But as the ways in which we enjoy media develops, so too has MIPTV, and for the events 55th anniversary you will see some shiny new additions. Among them is the Media Mastermind Keynote delivered by Matthew Henick - the current Head of BuzzFeed Motion Pictures - who is but one of the many new kids/paradigm-shifters on the block.

Another is MIPTV’s hosting of the Immersive Content Leadership Summit, embracing for the first time the realms of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) during a series of roundtable discussions. But fret not. The small-screen will remain the main incentive behind MIPTV, as showcased in the events unveiling of sectors designed to find the next big-thing in the world of children’s and short-series television!

Red Bull Air Race

21st April – 22nd April 2018

For the first time in the history of the Red Bull Air Race, the fearless pilots will be going head-to-head in France, as yachts give way to raceplanes in the beautiful Bay of Cannes!

For those not familiar with Red Bull’s aviating spectacle, the Air Race features the world’s best racing pilots - five of which are from France - in an electrifying motorsport competition; which combines speeds of 230mph and forces of up 10Gs being exerted on each pilot! Combine this with the slalom track which sits just 25-metres above the sea and it all makes for quite the nail-biting, but oh-so-satisfying experience.

In fact, words are so few and far between to truly justify the high speed, low altitude, magnificence of the Red Bull Air Race, we will instead leave you with this video to help make up your mind about paying a visit to Cannes’ iconic coastline for this exhilarating affair.
